“Infinite Fire” by Flying Colors. I only learned about the band today, although it features some musicians I know and love from other bands (including Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy). This track is a prog mini-epic, clocking in at only twelve minutes. But I can summarize it in one word: Wow!
There are also lots of live versions on YouTube just waiting to pop up in your search results.
(By the way, why are so many prog musicians named “Morse”?)
And now for something completely different!
“The State” from the “Spitfire” EP by Porter Robinson. Electronica/dubstep — definitely not prog 🙂 . I first heard this on the radio while driving to the store. I parked before the song was over, but didn’t get out of my car!
“eScapism” by Fortadelis (Tumblr; album at Bandcamp, CYAN Music). Very pleasant electronic, and holds up well to repeat listening. My favorite track is Aetheral Song.
“Chris Squire’s Swiss Choir”, Chris Squire’s second solo album. I’m not sure how I missed this, but better late than never!
A belated Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
(By the way, the choir is English 😉 )
Bitjam Podcast #200 – a four-part odyssey of song! Lie down on the floor and relax, as they say, and enjoy!
Two singles today. Rock on!
“Amidst” by Miwon (Bandcamp).
Mellow, upbeat electronica – 4:45 of joy! Give it a listen! Thanks to WBER for introducing me to the artist and track.
